So it wasn't a Hernia.

So...

I was feeling pretty good about using the blogger format to keep an updated blog, since trying on my own website was impractical to the point of not doable.

I got my first post out, and I liked how it looked, and was working on the Detroit H1 Unlimited boat racing post, when I was a little interrupted.  Let me rewind a bit before that though.

In the first week of June, right before leaving for Oregon to see my new Grandson Brady, I was about to  stand up from my desk, and I stretched out and felt a crunch in my abdomen, on the left side.  Paralyzingly painful for about three minutes, faded out, resulting in just an odd sensation.

I thought for sure I'd just experienced a hernia.  But if I went to the doc, then there was no way I was going to be getting on the plane to see Brady, and that just wasn't happening.  Besides Sara was already there.  Hernias can wait.

After getting back, from the trip, the odd discomfort remained, but I just ignored it.  It never seemed to go away though, so I finally did see the doctor on Aug 17th, and he didn't think it was a Hernia, but he referred me to a surgeon, who I saw the following week.  He did the normal abdominal exams, but didn't detect anything.  Definitely not a hernia.  He offered to send me in for a Cat-scan, but he didn't sound very urgent, and I decided not to worry about it.

The following weekend, on Saturday night, I suddenly felt like crap, right out of the blue.  I stayed down, all day Sunday, and still on Monday.  I got dressed for work but was thinking about calling in.  Sara suggested I go to the doctor, following which, I had a severe wave of abdominal pain.

I told her to call the doctor and tell them I was going to Emergency.

Admitted at 9:00, they ran a bunch of tests, mid day I went in for a cat-scan, after that they started giving me pain meds.  Scans came back as ruptured appendix.   Nice.

They put me under at about 11:00pm, for a laparoscopic appendectomies usually take 20-30 minutes.  I was in for three hours.  They told Sara that my appendix must have burst a couple of days prior.

I was released the following Friday, back to work on Monday.

The weird thing is that the abdominal discomfort was on the left side, not the right, and the exams I had showed no problems with the appendix.  One thing is though, after the surgery, the pain on my left side is gone.

But, it wasn't a hernia.

The following week, we went to the west coast again, so see our new grand daughter Lilianna.

So I didn't have time to update this blog.  I've still been taking pictures though.

I have the Thunder Over Michigan airshow, Woodward Dream Cruise, and lots more to update, so, let's see what kind of job I can do at getting caught up.
